Keeping these facts in mind, Casto & Harris now offers records preservation services - techniques universally accepted and practiced by conservators worldwide.

These processes include disbounding each book and separating them into individual leaves before deacidifying the leaves. Deacidification interrupts the deterioration process. After each page is cleaned, they are repaired using only archival, acid-free adhesives and materials.

Once the repair and deacidification processes are finished, the pages are generally rebound into archival quality bindings or encapsulated into capsules of stable base polyester depending on the fragility of the pages. Capsules can then be punched and placed into our permanent loose leaf binders.
